An Afternoon With Recitation Mavens Partha Ghosh and Gauri Ghosh - WBRi Interview-Feature

Partho Ghosh and Gouri Ghosh on WBRi Washington Bangla RadioKolkata, April 29, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) Hirak Bhattacharya caught up with the dazzling Bengali recitation and elocution artists Partha Ghosh and Gouri Ghosh in Kolkata. In this video interview, the first couple of the unique performing art form they themselves pioneered share with us in great detail the story of their journey.

Though Gouri Ghosh does not teach currently, preferring instead to spend time with their family, Partho Ghosh runs their popular school “UPOMA” which created history by performing for the first time a program on Salil Chaudhuri featuring artists of the stature of Hemanta Mukherjee and Suchitra Mitra performing songs written and composed by Chaudhuri. Tickets for that program were in very high demand - but the best part is the Ghoshes donated all proceeds after paying the artists to a charity organization supporting orphans. Leading Bengali personalities of Kolkata attended the performance - Aparna sen, Buddhadev Guha, Rudraprasad Sengupta, Dipankar Dey, Santosh Dutta, Swathilekha, Goutam Basu, Bikash Ray and so on. Another presentation was Chiro Kumar Sabha where Hemanta Mukherjee played Akshay as a singer as well as an actor. Plans are afoot to bring Chiro Kumar Sabha back - perhaps made possible with the help of the many spectacularly successful graduates of Upoma.

They had a passion for poetry from early on, and started to perform recitation in college. They credit Akashvani (All India Radio) for bringing them together where they performed in numerous radio programs. Within fifteen days of joining Akashvani, Partho Ghosh was selected to host the legendary “Golpo Dadur Ashor” program for children. Gouri Ghosh hosted “Sobinoye Nibedan”, another wildly popular radio show. Their popularity as elocutionists started to climb rapidly. Another radio show that elevated them further was “Bela-dir Ashor”.

Interview: Tejash Natali - the Don of "9 Eleven" award-winning Indian-American Bollywood Hindi thriller movie

Tejash NataliWashington, DC, April 26, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) Gurjeet Singh chats with actor Tejash Natali about his career in films and his roles in Bollywood thriller 9 ELEVEN and the upcoming film LOLCI.

Tejash Natali was helping out his friends - film-maker Manan Singh Katohora and producer Narain Kumar Mathur - with casting for their award-winning Indo-American Bollywood style Hindi thriller film "9 Eleven", when the idea of casting Tejash himself as an underground Don named Samir Bhai in Mumbai was floated. Once Tejash listened to the description of the character and the part he plays in the script, he decided to give it a shot, drawing confidence from his early experience in growing up in the seat of Bollywood and watching stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Amrish Puri and Paresh Rawal.

The film 9 Eleven has nothing to do with the terrorist attacks of 9/11. It is actually about 11 people being abducted and put into a room. The intriguing thriller, the caption of which is "Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid", captivates its viewers while the abductees try to figure out the reason for their predicament as one of them is killed every nine minutes! Each character is from a distinctly different background - the script is remarkable in the way it weaves the story. Viewers have reported a distinct sense of one's Karma catching up, irrespective of how long ago the deeds may have been done, when watching the film.
