The Indus Valley Civilization, also known as Harappan Civilization, flourished along the Indus river basin in much of the area of today's Pakistan and western India, during the period of circa 2600 BC to 1900 BC. This milestone civilization in the history of man is also referred to as the Indus Ghaggar-Hakra or Indus Saraswati civilization, and it is believed that the now dried up Ghaggar-Hakra river is the Saraswati river that is referenced in the oldest of books known to man - the ancient Rig Veda.
The book "Musical Instruments of the Lower Indus Valley of Sind" by N A Baloch is a fascinating study of the Musical instruments that evolved in this truly ancient part of the world and gives us deep insight about the music created across eons by the longest continuous human civilization this world has seen.
