Kolkata, March 2 - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) today organized a Seminar & Discussion on Union Budget 2016 at Kala Mandir Auditorium, Kolkata. This Seminar on the Finance Bill was organized with a view to discuss and understand the proposals which have been dealt by the Honorable Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley during his deliberation and the in between comma and lines to provide the professional fraternity clarity on the subject so that they can perform their professional duties in a better manner.

This Union Budget 2016 was inaugurated by Sri Firhad Bobby Hakim, MIC of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs Department alongwith the presence of various eminent personalities like: CA Anirban Datta, Chairman, EIRC; CA Manish Goyal, Vice Chairman, EIRC; CA (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, Council Member, ICAI; CA Sushil Kr. Goyal, Council Member, ICAI; CA Ranjeet Kr. Agarwal, Council Member, ICAI and all the Regional Council Members of EIRC of ICAI and many others. The Panellist were: Shri Jay Prakash Majumdar, Vice President, BJP, W.B.; Prof. Omprakash Mishra, Congress.

Various topics were discussed on this occasion by renowned speakers which included:

  • Impact of Budget in Capital Market by eminent Speakers.
  • Direct Tax Proposals in Finance Bill 2016 by Dr NK Poddar & CA Dilip B Desai from New Delhi.
  • Indirect Tax Proposals in Finance Bill 2016 by CA V Raghuraman from Bengaluru.

Speaking on this occasion, CA ANIRBAN DATTA, Chairman, EIRC (Eastern India Regional Council) said, “The budget is a futuristic one which in long run will ensure fiscal consolidation and ensure comprehensive growth across all sectors and on other hand has kept in mind not to put undue pressure to the exchequer. He has duly considered the emerging requirement of the Country and he has strived hard to do the justice to the mass at large.”

CA Anirban Datta has been elected to the prestigious and most coveted post of “Chairman’’ of the Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), an Institute enacted by an Act of Parliament and is the second largest accounting body in the world.  He has been an iconic face in the CA fraternity elected and adjudged to head a strong robust fraternity comprising of 23000 Chartered Accountants and 1 lakh students.

The event was followed by a Panel Discussion on the topic, Is this a Make in India Budget.  The panel discussion was attended by eminent panellists comprising of eminent political leaders, industrialists and expert analysts.
