On April 3, 2009, a special Premiere Eve screening of the Bangla Film Piyalir Password, the pioneering American Bengali Movie, was held at the Center for Social Change (CSC), Maryland, USA. Two of the leading cast of Piyalir Password Bangla Movie ( পিয়ালীর পাসওয়ার্ড), Rituparna Sengupta and Rupa Ganguly, were present at the Pialir Password Bengali Movie Premiere event, albeit a bit tired just having travelled from Kolkata, India. Piyalir Password, the first Bengali movie entirely shot in the US in a matter of nineteen days, is an excellent and ingenious production. The film is so engrossing that it is impossible to take a pause even for a smoke break! The story takes you to a world that looks almost identical to our everyday NRI life. But the film reveals the darker side of corporate greed and hunger for money that are always trying to control the unsuspecting public to their ways. Violence, murder, white lies and such precarious acts get ignored or forgotten often, many a times by us, buried in the daily struggles of our everyday life. RAJ BASU, the director / writer, has made an excellent effort in this movie to open up our eyes to that truth, sublime in our mind.

Piyalir Password depicts the story of an accident that looks different at face value to us. And we dwindle on the thin line of facts and fiction and finally loose analytical sense, much because of the risks involved that will jeopardize our daily life and to avoid the extra burden of fear and more tension. But for the sake of love towards her sister and niece, a newcomer to the most technologically advanced country of this world took on the challenge to reveal the truth, and jumps into the quest of finding answers to a murder, despite all sorts of unknown barriers. That is the story. Struggle to reveal the password of her sister's email account is not the essence but the passion and struggle to find the key to the real facts and establishing it - that is the real theme of the movie. And we salute Raj Basu again to make that the focus in the film.

Piyalir Password ( পিয়ালীর পাসওয়ার্ড), a film by Raj Basu, is a fast-paced suspense thriller set in Howard County, Montgomery County and Frederick County in Maryland, and Loudoun County in Virginia, USA, where a young woman comes to the United States from India to complete the legal formalities of her scientist sister’s accidental death. However, as she tries to wrap things up, to her horror she discovers that perhaps her sister’s death was not accidental.
