Partha and Parna’s first Album was released in Bangamela 2005 in Chicago. This album released by Rhyme Records, USA, entitled “Emotions Rekindled” – is a unique ensemble of melodious songs and hilarious parody songs & comic sketches written and composed by Partha. Partha & Parna in GariaPartha and Parna are exceptionally versatile singers and performers from the American Midwest. Even though they are both biomedical scientists by profession, their passion for music has taken them all over USA as invited singer- performers. Both Partha and Parna are trained in Hindustani vocal music by eminent vocalists of Mewati, Gwalior and Vishnupur Gharaana. Moreover, Parna - also known as Suparna - is a disciple of the legendary Singer-Composer-Lyricist Shri Jatileshwar Mukhopadhyay. Partha and Parna have performed in various American cities as invited artists as well as in prestigious venues in Kolkata such as Madhusudan Mancha, Rabindrasadan and also on TV channels such as TARA MUZIK (see below). Parna and Partha perform a wide variety of songs ranging from semiclassical, bhajans, ghazals, Bengali Folk, Bangla Band songs to adhunik bangla songs of recent years and of “Swarna Jug” (The Golden Era of Bengali Music), especially songs of Manna Dey, Hemanta Mukhopadhyay, Shyamal Mitra, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, Pratima Bandyopadhyay and Arati Mukhopadhyay) in accordance with the tastes of the audience. Above and beyond, Partha is extremely popular as a stand-up comedian for his self-composed hilarious comic skits and parody songs.

PARNA embarked upon her musical journey at the tender age of three in Rabindrasangeet under the tutelage of Shri Aurobindo Biswas, with inspirations and encouragement from her mother Smt. Sruti Roy, an ex-disciple of the Rabindrasangeet exponent Late Shri Ashoktaru Bandopadhyay. Alongside, Parna also received her training in classical music and obtained her “Sangeet PrabhakarJunior Diploma in Vocal music, with distinction from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.

Subsequently, in the year 1984, PARNA joined Surangama, the renowned institute of Late Acharya Sailaja Ranjan Mazumder, and started to receive her training in Hindustani Vocal music, Rabindrasangeet and Puratani. She graduated with a degree in Vocal music and Rabindrasangeet in 1990 after 6 years of training.

From 1991, she started her training in Bengali Modern and Raagpradhan songs under the guidance of the renowned singer, lyricist and composer, Shri Jatileshwar Mukhopadhyay. In 1995, Suparna moved to USA for her doctoral studies and eventually became a citizen of the United States of America.

After coming to USA, PARNA continued to receive her vocal training under Shri Rakesh Chitradurga, a disciple of Pundit  Jasraj of Mewati gharana. She is currently under the tutelage of the distinguished vocalist, Shri Haresh Bakshi of Gwalior gharana.

PARTHA received his training in vocal classical and semi-classical music from Shri Madhusudan Chakraborty (disciple of Sangeetacharya Sukhendu Goswami and Pundit  A.T. Kanan) and Shri Baidyanath Goswami (disciple of Sangeetacharya Tarapada Chakravarty). In the US, PARTHA has received training under Shri Rakesh Chitradurga, a disciple of Pundit Jasraj.  He also performs comic sketches, skits, caricatures (mainly in Bengali) and parody songs composed by him. He has performed in several cultural functions in Calcutta and in USA as an invited artist and received immense appreciation. Partha also has a great skill of imitating the voices of several well-known personalities from Bengal.

Partha and Parna are also fortunate to receive the guidance of Pt. Santanu Bandopadhyay, son of the legendary maestro Pt. Amiya Ranjan Bandopadhyay of Vishnupur Gharana.

TV Appearances: "Suprabhat" and "Aaj Shokaler Amontrone" on Tara Musik Channel

Partha and Parna performed in TARA MUZIK channel in 2006, in the show "Suprabhat" which features well known personalities from music, television and films from Kolkata. They were also featured as guests artists in a two hour long live show "AAJ SOKALER AMONTRONE" hosted by anchor Mallika, on 17th December, 2008. This show had live audience interaction, also their friend and famous singer Shubhomita called in live to surprise them.
