Shot primarily in western USA (Los Angeles, California), My Name is Khan - directed by Karan Johar - is about Islamic terrorism, and social fallout faced by the overwhelming majority of Muslims who have nothing to do with their fundementalist Jihadis but are victimized regardless by the dastardly acts of those view.

Rizwan Khan (SRK) is an autistic child in Mumbai, who grows up to marry Mandira Khan (Kajol). Eventually, in post 9/11 Los Angeles, Khan's autistic behavior looks like suspicious behavior to the cops. In the ensuing drama, Radha (Sheetal Menon), who is Khan's councillor, assists in untangling Khan.

In a 2008 post-Mumbai Terrorist Attack interview with Journalist Madhureeta Mukherjee, Karan Johar stated he felt a social responsibility to make a film about terrorism, Islam, and the hijacking of a religion by a few to a detrimental effect for the many.

Originally slated for a winter 2009 release, My Name Is Khan is now slated for release in early 2010.
