Mumbai, Jan 13 (Washington Bangla Radio) - The much awaited nomination list of a prestigious Indian film awards show are out and it seems to have the whole Indian cinema industry in a tizzy.

The list has, however, surprisingly left out names that have left international impression with their stellar stories and performances.

Film and Entertainment Awards a Facade: Kangana Ranaut

As an example, Masaan, having been considered one of the best movies in the world, received no nomination in the best movie category in the Indian film awards. Is a nomination in the best debut category all the film deserves?

The list of bloopers continues with Richa Chadha who is listed amongst the finest actresses in Bollywood but was inexplicably left out of the list of nominations. Her performance in Masaan was exemplary as is recognized by film-lovers across the globe.

To add to the confusion, another award show nominated Richa Chadha in the supporting actress category but she is clearly the main female lead in the film.

Masaan was one of the best films in 2015 and was showcased at the Cannes film festival becoming the only Indian film to win 2 prestigious awards. From Rajeev Masand remarking on this blatant mistake to Pooja Bhatt tweeting about this, the movie and the actor’s potential is known to all.

A fantastic movie like this with such excellent performances deserves to be recognized and credited.

This is not expected from award shows such as these considering they have been in the business for decades. It’s time they stepped up and looked into what went wrong here.
