Mann Rangiya: SAAVM Theatre Group's Next Production a Modern Interpretation of Bharatmuni’s Natyashastra

Mumbai, Dec 31 (Washington Bangla Radio) -  In SAAVM Theatre Group's new stage production ‘Mann Rangiya’, Rangla (Sushil Singh) and Rangli (Nancy Thakkar) go to a village fair. Then they go to a the Nawab's palace and see statues with different feelings and they start talking to them with the help of Samay (time) in a fictitious manner. Nine stories are told.

Sushil Singh, the founder and director of SAAVM, has been associated with movies and theatre for over 25 years. For the past 10 years, Saavm has been conducting plays and workshops.

Sushil has taught finer aspects of acting to noted film actors including Hrithik Roshan, Arjun Rampal, Mandana Karimi and Fardeen Khan.

"People are very influenced with the emotions which they are not aware of. Hence they commit crime and fall in love or they do good and bad things. We are trying to portray that in the play," says Sushil Singh.

The Family, social and musical play ‘Mann Rangiya’ opens on January 9 at Rang Sharda, Bandra (West) at 8.00 PM. Anand Mudra is presenting the play. The writer, director and music director is Sushil Singh.

‘Mann Rangiya’ is inspired by Bharatmuni’s Natyashastra and portrays new-age feelings of humans. Feelings like anger, fear, and happiness are shown in the eyes.

The play is a musical presentation through drama and poetry about emotional and social behavior of human beings. It creates awareness of, and a relationship with, the conscious and subconscious mind and the perception of action-reaction. It is a thought-provoking social drama.

The play actors are Sushil Singh, Nancy Thakkar, Pankaj Mishra, Jagdish Bhosle, Rituka Tandon,  Madhumita Kumar, Shikha Chhabra, Priya Shrestha, Anuradha Shabadi, Rammnik Maan, Mohammad Mohsin, Abhimanyu Aggarwal, Amith Nirpal, Haider Ali, Sabar Kashyap, Aanand Seth and others. This is the third show of the play in Mumbai. After this, they will perform in cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Allahabad, Bhopal, Indore, Ahmedabad and more.
