The name of the bangla film itself suggests a tendency to appeal to the usual Bengali regard for ones mother, or maternal love, considered divine in more ways than one by Bengalis. Let us hope Hiran Chatterjee manages to recover from box office failures Chirasathi, Bhalobasha Bhalobasha and Jackpot which had Koel as his co-star, and Haranath Chakraborty  puts on a better show in movie making. If Hiran clicks in Maa Amar Maa, perhaps he will do better in the soon to be released Risk and Jibon Rong Berong bengali films. The movie is up against the challenging "Challenge" and the Anjan Dutta flick Chowrasta - The Crossroads of Love.
