Established in 1933, Kundu Special is a popular Indian bus and train based tour operator run by the Kundu family - currently by the third generation since they started. It caters to the middle & upper middle class tourists from Kolkata, India - and fills in a need for quality travel tour operator at budget prices that make it popular among Bengalis who are the most travelled ethnic group in India.

A part of Bengali culture, Kundu Special finds mention in many books and movies, including Feluda stories by Satyajit Ray. Their original office at 40/1 Strand Road is still in operation, though Prabir Kundu opened a new bigger main office in 1972 at 1 Chittaranjan Avenue, Kolkata
