Janala (Bengali, 2009) is an upcoming Bangla film with Indranil Sengupta and Swastika Mukherjee in lead roles. Indraneil plays the role of Bimal - a man who goes to visit his old school in a remote village named Jhumurpur which he attended as a kid, and is mighty dissapointed by its condition. He decided to do something about the school, but does not have money to do so. The film Janala is about the experience of Bimal in attempting to fix his alma mater. Swastika plays the role of Meera, Bimal's fiancee, working at a Kolkata call center. Kuchil Mukherjee plays the Headmaster of this school in question. Shankar Chakraborty is a truck driver who ferries around a window intended to be installed in the school that gives the film its name.

Janala is directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta and is the debut Bengali production by Big Pictures, a division of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. The musical score is composed by Biswadeb Dasgupta. The film is shot in a flat in Kolkata and on location at a village named Dordi near Purulia, West Bengal.
