Jagjit & Chitra Singh (Chitra is a Bengali originally from Kolkata) met in 1967 and got married in 1969. They soon made their mark as a wildly successful husband-wife Ghazal singer team, and carved out a niche fan following in spite of the presence of Ghazal powerhouses like Noor Jehan, Malika Pukhraj, Begum Akhtar, Talat Mahmood and Mehdi Hassan.
