Dwando is the story of a Kolkata woman named Sudipta (Ananya Chatterjee), married to the role of Kaushik Sen, who faces difficult moral choices. Rana plays the role of Sudipta's lover. The iconic Soumitra Chatterjee plays the role of a neuro-surgeon consulted by Sudipta.

Dwando is the first bengali film having New York based actor Samrat Chakraborty in its cast. Shooting of Dwando is primarily in studio. A very small part is shot in Miami, Florida, USA.

The film Padakyhep that Suman Ghosh directed previously received excellent critical acclaim and won Soumitra Chattopadhyay a National Award. Suman has also directed a highly acclaimed documentary Amartya Sen: A Life Reexamined.
