Bratati Bandopadhyay is one of the contemporary icons in Bengali elocution. She set the standard for Bangla Kobita Recitation, and is training the next generation through her "Kabbayan" institution.
Memorizing and reciting came naturally to Bratati, who has been doing exactly that from age 3. Today her primary influences and inspiration include the who's who of veteran and ipcoming Bengali Literati: Sambhu Mitra, Kazi Sabyasachi, Nirendra Nath Chakraborty, Sankha Ghosh,
Shakti Chattopadhyay, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Purnendu Patrea, Dibyendu
Palit, Subho Dasgupta and so on. Bratati has been trained in Rabindra Sangeet by none other than the legendary Suchitra Mitra. And her greatest inspiration still remains that bearded man - Gurudeb Rabindranath Tagore.
Bratati has published quite a few recitation albums, including "Shotoborsho Pore",
"Monere Tai Kaho Je", "Jharer Kheya", "Aamar Rabindranath", "Ebong
Streer Patra", "Anjali", "Chhuti o Natun Bouthan", "Ebong Raktakarabi",
"Mohordi", "Chinna Patra", "Ato Prem Ami Kothai Pabo" and "Chandalika".
Her numerous awards and recognitions include "Kazi Sabyasachi Smriti Britti" for Best
Newcomer in the Field of Recitation, " Outstanding Young Person of
Calcutta" Award in 1999 for outstanding contributions in the field of
Recitation "Best Reciter" Award by Art Forum in 1999, "Bharat Nirman Award" for Elocution and News Reading in 2004, "Best News Reader" Award
