Kolkata, India, 14th September , 2016 (Washington Bangla Radio): The cast and crew of the upcoming Bengali movie Kuheli came together at a shopping mall to launch the first look of Kuheli. The first look was launched with a fashion show where Pujarini Ghosh and Indrasish Roy, the lead couple of the film turned showstopper on the ramp. Director Debarati Gupta was also present at the show.
About the film director Debarati Gupta said, “It is a thriller with a scary undertone. Indrasish and Pujarini play a young couple who has recently moved to Kolkata. They have a brilliant chemistry which will be loved by the audience. Apart from Indrasish and Pujarini we have Kaushik Sen and Anindya Pulak on board. The two seasoned actors will be seen in roles of investigating cops. We have drawn their characters very differently than how we see cops in most of the films. Their characters will also leave a deep impression on the audience.”
When asked if the film is a modern day adaption of the 1971 cult Bengali thriller of the same name, Debarati said, “The Kuheli of 1971 is impossible to recreate. The cast of that film had big names Biswajit Chatterjee, Robi Ghosh , Utpal Dutta, Sandhya Roy and bringing a cast like that together in present day is unthinkable. We do have taken some reference and names from that Kuheli but the settings and plot is completely different.”
Pujarini who looked stunning in a pink and orange saree said, “Kuheli is going to be an edge of the seat thriller. The film has many turns and twists and the characters have multiple shades in them. We have given our best in the film. Playing the role was not easy and we had to go through rigorous workshops and rehearsals. The result of our hardwork will be evident on screen when the film releases.”
Indrasish Roy looked dapper in a white sherwani. The tall dark and handsome actor seemed very excited about the film. “Well made thrillers always work. Most of the successful films in recent times are thrillers. So the expectation from Kuheli will also be very high and we will surely live up to the expectation. “
The poster of the film which got released on that day, though catchy, is a copy paste of South Korean thriller ‘Thirst’.
