Actors Richa Sharma and Shaheb Bhattyacharya celebrates the 3rd Anniversary of Ekru Store launch

Kolkata, September 26, 2014 (Washington Bangla Radio): EKRU by Ekta & Ruchira rung in the 3rd Anniversary of their Flagship Store by showcasing their Lakme Fashion Week Collection 2014 at 40/1 Roopchand Mukherjee Lane, Kolkata. The occasion was a very classy affair hosted by former Mrs.India International, Actress and Brand Ambassador Ladies Circle India, Mrs.Richa Sharma and actor Shaheb Bhattacharya. Apart from the two actors, many of Kolkata’s elite set came together to join the designer duo in celebrating the 3rd Anniversary.

Host of the evening, Mrs. Richa Sharma in outfit designed by Ekru, said, “Am glad to be a part of this celebration, I absolutely love the outfit I am wearing which is their creation and am looking forward to buy few more for the upcoming festive season.”

Speaking at the occasion, Designer duo Ekta and Ruchira, said, “Today, we complete three years of our flagship store and it feels wonderful to continuously receive the same love and warmth from the people of this city which surely is a boost for us to constantly come up with innovative design and creation, we hope to celebrate many such years in the future.”

About the collection the designer duo explained, “The collection uses a lot of ikkat weave, which has always been a part of our heritage along with extensive use of chanderi, handloom cotton, ghicha and silks. The colours used are festive like fuschia, red, yellow, lime joins hand with some winter hues like bottlegreen, wine, navy and bottlegreen. The collection uses a lot of heavy hand embroideries with occasional usage of machine embroidery techniques as well, the inspiration for which is heavily drawn from our rich cultural heritage. The thread, ari & zardozi work imparts richness to the collection. The silhouettes used are a mixture of traditional outfits like anarkalis, tunics, straight kurta sets and drape garments, to suit the needs of one and all. Thus becoming a part of your heirloom, which Ekru the brand is known for.”
