Madras Cafe: A Unique Musical Experience

Mumbai, September 2 (Washington Bangla Radio): John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri starrer Madras Cafe has impressed the audience and film critics equally with its grasping plot and spectacular performance. But it would not be wrong to say that the film’s music is also turning out to be the hero of the film. Director Shoojit Sircar feels that without the right sound effects, background scores and music, a film will be half baked. Keeping true to his words, Madras Cafe has some spectacular tunes.

The Madras Cafe theme track is a 90 seconds musical ride into the heart of the film. Music director Shantanu Moitra has composed this heart touching tune which depicts the essence of the film without any lyrics. The track is composed using instruments like violins and drums in the beginning which are eventually blended with the sounds of gun shots and bomb blasts. The track starts slowly as becomes intense as it progresses transporting the listener into the civil war milieu as the film has used the sounds of real bullets and weaponry. The blending of musical instruments with the sound effects taken from the scenes of the film is a sheer work of art which is unimpaired even without any vocals.
