Kolkata, Sep 14, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) The fragrance of Durga Puja is in the air and the very first weekend of September saw the anticipation of Puja getting a boost in the air of Kolkata as two Puja special Bengali audio song albums by two popular singers were released on the first Saturday of the month.

The first album was launched by Amit Kumar, son of legendary singer-actor Kishore Kumar. Composed by Munna-Raj the album "Fele Asha Din" has eight songs which have tried to revive the melodies of 70’s and 80’s. Amit Kumar said that he hopes his Phele Asha Din album will be like a refreshing breeze in the present age of Techno Music.

Amit Kumar New Puja Kolkata Bengali Audio Songs

“These songs remind me of the period when my career started and grew. I am sure that audience will love these songs.” Amit said.

"Phele Asha Din" seems to reintroduce music of the past era, an period of Indian music which had mass appeal. According to the Munna-Raj the album is a tribute to music legends like Kishore Kumar, RD Burman, SD Burman, Sudhin Dasgupta, Salil Choudhury, Manna Dey, Hemanta Mukherjee, Nachiketa Ghosh and Bappi Lahiri.

Utpal, Sreebarun and Sreeraj Mitra have penned the songs and while listening to the songs like ‘Harano Surer Khoje’, ‘Ei Besh Acchi’, ‘Akhono Srabon Jhore’ , ‘Ghum Ghum Dupure’, ‘Shure Chande Gaane Gaane’, ‘Ei Mon Chutte Chaye’ and ‘Phele asha Din’, one will feel how beautifully they have captured in them different shades of romance. Shyam Raj and Prem Sodha, renowned musicians from the team of R.D. Burman, have played for this album.

The album takes pride in having been recorded at Sangeet Studio and the voice recording was done at ‘Meet Brothers Studio’ where songs of Bollywood films like ‘Gangster’ and ‘Life in a Metro’ were also recorded.

According to Amit the album is like ‘old wine in new bottle’. The songs are sure to bring the intoxicating effect of old wine or in this case the enthralling music of the old decades of 70’s and 80’s .

The same evening saw the launch of another Bengali Puja songs album by the very popular Bengali singer Raghav Chatterjee. Raghav has proven his versatility by singing every kind of song whether it is ‘Rabindra Sangeet’ ( Tagores Song) or commercial Bengali film songs. This time he has taken his range of songs to a wider margin as in this album he has sung his first Nazrul Geeti, i.e. the songs of revolutionary Bengali Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The album named ‘Ebaar Nazrul’ comprises of nine classics like ‘Shanto rate Jodi’, ‘Khelichhe Jolodebi’, ‘Parodeshi Megh’, ‘Durdipobashini’ and more.

“The treatment of the songs is very modern, keeping the aesthetics intact. The album is a unique effort to bring back listeners to Nazrul Geeti.” Raghav said about his album.

The music of the album has been designed and arranged by eminent sarod player Prattyush Banerjee and the album has the potential to be a true retrospective of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Both the albums were launched by Asha Audio. Unfortunately at the time of writing Asha Audio albums are not available for MP3 download from WBRi Global Digital Music Download store.
