Rajlakshmi churned out some excellent tunes from her piano based on the songs and poems of the bard - ‘Phoole phoole dhoole dhoole’based on the Scottish tune of Robert Burns and ‘Je rate mor duar guli bhanglo jhore’ based on the raga Bageswari among them. She also chanted the keys of her piano to bring out the tunes of ‘Ekla cholo re’, ‘Sokhi vabona kahare bole’ , ‘Rimjhim Baroshe’, ‘Ogo Bideshini’. Her music matched her outlook which was elegant in a golden and silver Benarasi saree and heavy golden ornaments, everything bearing the pattern of design which used to be in vogue during the era of Rabindranat Tagore.

Well known journalist and writer Sankarlal Banerjee supplemented her by lending his voice to verse and poems from Gitanjali.

According to Rajlakshmi, “Tagore was the Indian Renaissance response to the revival of the west, not only through his thought, literature and music but also lifestyle and fashion. That is the reason for the characters created by Tagore in his novels and novellas like ‘Gora’, ‘Chaturanga’, ‘Shesher Kobita’, ‘Char Odhay’, ‘Noukadubi’ and ‘Ghare Baire’. The elite Bengali house used to wear Baluchari which has been mentioned in many literary works of that period.”

“I wanted to showcase Tagore's influence on our fashion and lifestyles not only in his time but even today. Bengali aristocrats indulged in wearing silks, muslin and taant in those times like today. Benarasi and Baluchari bespoke of class and elegance. Tagore introduced the art-work of batik on silks and cotton, an idea he got from Singapore. Katha stitch, which was used in our households for homemade blankets, came later on to be used in our fashionable fabrics as dress material and fashion wear. Velvet brocades, satin and net came into fashionable use, which is a direct influence from the west. Tagore’s characters indulged in these dresses and I have tried to give it a modern look.” Rajlakshmi said.

Jewelry worn by the models were by Gaja Heritage.
