Bidita BagKolkata, September 3, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio / Penning Creations) So you had enough of laughter these weeks? Not an issue. Director Prateek Chakravarty takes an opportunity to give you a break from the jaw paining laughter leagues and presents an amiable love story based in Sydney. If you were anticipating some everlasting kind of aura from the flick, you might be disappointed, as From Sydney With Love is certainly not a ‘classic’ kind of movie. Rather, expect less and watch the flick just to relax; at the end of the day, you will be freshened up.

From Sydney With Love tells the story of Megha Banerjee (Bidita Bag), who is a studious small town girl from a conservative Bengali middle class family residing in West Bengal. She is on cloud nine as she earns a scholarship from the prestigious New South Wales University in Australia to pursue her Masters degree in Economics. She embarks on her maiden voyage to Australia leaving her protective family behind. Under the wings of her compassionate cousin Kalpana (Reshmi Ghosh), Meghaa slowly comes to terms with the brand new pace and lifestyle in Sydney. She finds friends in a divine Lubaina (Evelyn Sharma), a naughty Raj (Prateek Chakravorty) and a conceited Suhail (Karan Sagoo). Her vow to remain head strong and not to fall in love melts when she meets a very enigmatic, vigorous and friendly fellow student Rohit (Sharad Malhotra). Eventually, the Indian love birds start to fly high in the Sydney sky. For Meghaa, life becomes a starry night with her beloved and friends. What happens thereafter is something you will have to watch out to experience the fun filled, emotional and feverishly engaging love story set in Sydney- with Love!

The adorable Bidita Bag portrays the young and enthusiastic Megha very convincingly. She delivers the girl next door look as well as the exuberance, liveliness, fun and emotional expressions with consummate ease. She will make you endear this new babe in the Bolly tinsel town.

Sharad Malhotra is the new hunk of Bollywood. He proves himself to be a fine choice to play the role of Rohit. The handsome Karan Sagoo, Reshmi Ghosh, the ethereal Evelyn Sharma and young director cum actor Prateek Chakravorty simply revv you up with their fresh and natural performance in their respective roles.

The script, by Prateek Chakravorty himself, is quirky and funny, with a nice balance of emotions in it.

A huge brigade of happening singers delights viewers by lending their voice to Sohail Sen’s tunes. Mohit Chauhan, Neeraj Shridhar, Monali Thakur, Mika Singh, Brooklyn Shanti, Palak and Mohammad Salamat are the listed names humming the songs penned down by Kumaar and Anvita Dutt. Piyush Shah’s expert frames speak life. The elegant captures do depict the right moods.

Prateek Chakravorty emerges as a new name to be added in Bollywood’s young and promising directors’ A-list. Chakravorty, the writer and director of ‘From Sydney with Love’, presents a regular love story in a lovable way which simultaneously radiates the warmth of friendship, providing you a fresh fragrance that makes you feel young at heart!
