Calcutta, September 20, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) Maa Aschen ! I am glad to inform you that on behalf of our organization, like previous years this year too, we are organizing “IIDR Sarood Samman -2011”, in association with South-Kolkata District Nehru Yuba Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports, and Government of India.

All students and parents of IIDR Free Computer Training Center at KMC Ward No.105 are providing voluntary service for IIDR Sarood Samman -2011.

This event is purely a non-commercial Social Service venture. Patrons of IIDR Sarood Samman-2011 are veteran Film Artist Bharati Debi, Janab M. Nuruzamman, Honorable Member Legislative Assembly, Government of West Bengal & Janab Firad Hakim, Honorable Minister, Government of West Bengal.

The sole objective for organizing the event is to Encourage and Recognize Creative Efforts of Artisans and Durga Pujo Committee’s.

This year we are trying to promote awareness about women cricketers and their achievements and BCCI along with  CAB ‘s notable activities regarding promotion of Women cricket, through Sarood Samman -2011.

The event format is described below:

A unique contest will be held among several Pujo Committees (South Kolkata), during Durga Pujo 2011 and finally awards would be given to best 4/5 winners. There is no Entry Fees or any other charges for participation. A group of eminent judges select wining Pujo committees, on the basis of creativity, maintaining noise pollution norms, using traditional/folk art forms etc.

Till date about 60(Sixty) pujo committees participated in this competition and still selection is going on. Few Pujo Committees from Hooghly and 24 Parganas(S) are participating this year.
