Interview: Sanghamitra Chaudhuri on Bengali Movies "Someday Somewhere Jete Pari Chole" & "Keloda In Kashmir"

Washington, DC, Sept 14, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) Film-maker Sanghamitra Chaudhuri, who we had the pleasure of talking to just before the release of her prior film Bidehir Khonje Rabindranath (audio available here), returns to our studio to chat with Esha Basu Roy about two of her Bengali films releasing on consecutive Fridays in theaters across Kolkata.

Bengali Actress PAOLI DHAM (Paoli Dam)

Her first upcoming film is titled "Someday Somewhere Jete Pari Chole" and stars Paoli Dam, Saheb Bhattacharya, Shankar Chakravarty, Debjani Chatterjee, Biswajit Chakravarty, Soma Chakravarty, Souradeep Ghosh, Trishna Mukherjee and others. The film is written by Sanghamitra Choudhuri and Bappa Dasgupta and features music by Drono Acharya. D. Dev from Mumbai is the cinematographer.

The title "Someday Somewhere Jete Pari Chole" is intended to appeal to an young audience and cross lingusitic barriers to non-Bengali viewers as well. Paoli Dam plays the lead role in the film, which is about the lives of eight people.The film is also in a way a travelog involving a pretty young girl travelling with her family on vacation. Subsequently some incidents happen whic are not expected, and some expected things fail to happen.

Someday Somewhere has a release date of Friday September 16, 2011.

Tollywood Kolkata Bengali Movie KELODA IN KASHMIR Poster

Sanghamitra's second forthcoming movie "Keloda in Kashmir" features the film-maker herself in an important role, along with Bhola Tamang, Sangita Sonali , Priyanka Banerjee, Souradeep Ghosh, Raj Sinha, Abhinandan Dutta, Madhumita Ghosh, Shankar Chakraborty, Pallabi Chatterjee, Joyjit Banerjee and others. Keloda is a straightforward comedy entirely shot in Kashmir with some portions in Kolkata. The film features spectacular visuals shot in Mughal gardens, Dal Lake, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Thajiwas Glacier which should look fabulous on the big screen.

Soumya Bose debuts as a music director with keloda. Cinematography is by Bappa Das Gupta. Keloda releases on September 23, 2011.
