Designer Niiamar Felder | Harlem's Fashion Row to host Debut of Spring Couture Collection

Encouraged by signs of an industry revitilization, young designer seeks to create timeless couture collections that will serve as benchmarks to a brighter future for fashion.

New York, NY (Washington Bangla Radio / PRWEB) September 15, 2010: New York - based designer Niiamar Felder will present his spring couture collection at Harlem's Fashion Row on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. The 3rd annual fashion exhibit and presentation, held at The Studio Museum in Harlem, will showcase the collections of emerging designers, Niiamar, Telfar, Sammy B. and Viscera NY.

Niiamar captures the true meaning of high fashion. Through a mixture of soft silhouettes and artful flamboyance, he reintroduces the beauty and class of haute couture fashion. He has worked meticulously to embrace his talent, drawing inspiration from paintings, architecture and historical glamour to construct timeless designs.

Niiamar graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Design in 2007. His original designs have been featured in several fashion shows and theater productions on the east coast. Inspired by the brilliance of Valentino and Coco Chanel, Niiamar avoids trends and fads in favor of a more enduring style that has become the signature of his coveted designs. In 2006 he worked as a design assistant to renowned designer Kevan Hall in Los Angeles, CA. Later that year he was nominated for the Marvin Sims Design Fellowship in Costume Design awarded by the Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts. He has served a Principal Costume Designer for the off Broadway productions of Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me Kate” (April 2009) and “The Doll Confessions” directed by Tony Award Winner Trezana Beverley (August 09).

Niiamar credits God's divine inspiration for his love of fashion and burgeoning career. Grateful for his accomplishments and looking forward to the future, he intends to be a great teacher and inspiration in the world of fashion.

Harlem's Fashion Row, established in 2007 as a one time fashion show, has evolved into a 35 member organization of volunteers and professionals in the fashion industry. The team ranges from recent college graduates looking to gain entry and experience in the fashion industry, to experienced marketers, fashion show producers, artists, photographers, graphic designers, entrepreneurs, PR practitioners, sourcing specialists, stylists, showroom managers and buyers. Most HFR team members work in the industry for major fashion or apparel brands, manufacturers and showrooms.
