French Film Screenings In collaboration with Alliance Française de Bombay

Mumbai, Maharashtra, September 6, 2010 /Washington Bangla Radio/India PRwire/ -- A Rendezvous with French Cinema, French Film Screenings, Little Theatre, Wednesday, 8th - 6.30 pm

In collaboration with Alliance Française de Bombay

Come and share your passion for French cinema with other cinema enthusiasts every second Wednesday of the month.

Beginning this month and till February 2011, we will pay tribute to the genius of Jacques Tati, who, with 6 movies, made a unique contribution to the history of comic cinema.

Soigne ton gauche (Keep your left up)

French film with English subtitles (12 mins - 1936)

Keep your left up, directed by Rene Clement and starring the young Tati as a wannabe boxer, is minor but immensely funny. These shorts showcase Tati's ability to turn the lowest comedy into a graceful work of art.

Jour de Fête (The Big Day)

French film with English subtitles (B&W - 86 mins - 1949)

Tati's first major feature, Jour de fête tells the story of an inept village postman who interrupts his duties to inspect the traveling fair that has come to town. Influenced by too much wine and a documentary on the rapidity of the American postal service, he goes to hilarious lengths to speed his mail deliveries aboard his bicycle.

Directed by Jacques Tati

Cast: Guy Decomble, Paul Frankeur, Santa Relli and others

Admission on a first-come-first-served basis (NCPA and Alliance Française members will get preferential seating)
