A party for *'paper bride'*

Kolkata, Aug 17 (IBNS): Tollywood celebs got together for a cozy party here
on Monday night to celebrate the conclusion of the filming of director
Bappaditya Bandopadhyay’s upcoming Bengali film Kagojer Bou (paper bride).

The movie is produced by West Bengal-based businessmen Ram Ratan Lahoti and
Vinod Lahoti, who said, they wanted to ‘give something back to the city and
what better way than through entertainment and culture.’

According to actor Joy Sengupta, one of the leads, the film is ‘basically
about the politics of a man-woman relationship.’

“The film is based on a work of writer Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay. It explores
the politics of the relationship of a man with his woman, where he tries to
treat her like his property.”

“It’s about a man who can do anything for money. He is shrewd, cunning and
has no airy views of ethics and righteousness. It’s a deadly combination,”
added Bappaditya.

The film also stars Bong hottie Paoli Dam along with actors Rahul, Priyanka
and Rim Jhim.

“It’s a very intense film and it was a fantastic experience working with
everybody on the film,” said Paoli.

The party also saw the presence of Sri Lankan filmmaker Vimukthi
Jayasundara, who announced he’d be working on a Bengali movie which would go
on floors in October.

“I am about to work on a movie, with the same team that you see here, and
though I can reveal much at this stage, I can say it’ll be about life in
Kolkata and the changes it has seen in recent times,” he said.

Jayasundara, who won the 2005 Caméra d'Or (Golden Camera) award at Cannes
for his feature, The Forsaken Land-Sulanga Enu Pinisa, said one of the
things that attracted him to east India was the influence of the ‘great
masters’ of the trade who belonged to Bengal.
