I-Day: Celebs wish nation through Twitter*
Mumbai, Aug 15 (IBNS): Twitter went tricolour on Sunday as the patriot and
famous poured out their feelings on the 64th Independence Day.
Celebrities from multiple fields have posted their small ‘tweets’
to celebrate this glorious day.
“Happy Independence Day ..!! May India no longer be 'the third
world country' or a 'developing nation' but FIRST WORLD and DEVELOPED
!!,” posted Big B in his ‘Twitter’ account, reflecting his dream to
see India as a developed first world nation.
On the other hand legendary singer Asha Bhosle became nostalgic as
she tweeted a memorable moment in her life, “Today I remember
watching Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad at a political
rally in Mumbai. Happy Independence Day. Jai Hind.”
Tennis star Mahesh Bhupati posted small message in his account, wishing
Indians, “Jai Hind.....”
Veteran actor Anupam Kher remarked, “Happy Independence Day to every INDIAN
all over the world. Thanks to all those known and unknown indians who helped
us achieve it. :).”
Rahul Bose on the other hand celebrated the day by visiting the historical
spot at Andaman where Subhas Chandra Bose had unfurled the Tri colour in
1943.
“In the andamans at the spot where subhash bose unfurled the
indian tricolour on 30 dec 1943,” posted Rahul Bose in his Twitter
account ‘RahulBose1’.
Junior Bachchan on the other hand expressed his dream to essay the role of a
freedom fighter which got fulfilled as he plays Masterda Surjya Sen in
Ashutosh Gowarikar's upcoming venture ‘'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey'.
“One of my dreams when I 1st became an actor was to play a freedom fighter.
Ashutosh made that dream come true with khele hum je jaan se,” posted
Abhishek.
But apart from wishing and greeting, the celebrities also pointed
the corruption and other evils that are still halting the smooth development
and progress of this nation.
“Happy Independence day India! Hope we can free ourselves frm corruption &
be d country Gandhi & all d freedom fighters aspired 4! JAI HIND!,” posted
Preity Zinta in popular micro- blogging site.
“Independence must mean fearlessness of thought and action
(without deliberate intent to harm). By that yardstick how many of us
are free?,” questioned the ‘Jhankar Beats’ actor Rahul Bose.
Celina Jaitley tweeted, “Independence up,Speak up 4 ur rights,
Respect others rights and expect the same,Thank the indian army daily n 4
gods sake study history.”
Bipasha Basu, Madhavan, Rohan Bopanna, Anupam Kher, Javed Akhtar and other
celebs too wished the nation on this day through ‘Twitter’.
