Launch of the star-studded “Indian National Anthem” by Rajeev Walia in the City of Joy

Kolkata, 19th August, 2014 (Washington Bangla Radio): Screen N Stage launched Film Maker Raajeev Walia’s star-studded Indian National Anthem video in Kolkata today at Kala Mandir auditorium. A new National Anthem video, featuring the biggest cast ever has been shot by filmmaker, Rajeev Walia where 70 personalities from different walks of life- Bollywood, Television, Cricket, Sports, Police, Shilpkars, etc. have come together for Rajeev Walia's version of the Indian National Anthem. The new Anthem 'Jana gana mana' will be released in 150 countries and over 600 theatres from August 15th onwards.

The launch of this star-studded National Anthem in Kolkata was attended by various eminent personalities like - Sangram Singh, Wrestler & Actor / Big Boss Fame; Payal Rohatgi, Bollywood Actress / Big Boss Fame; Rachana Banerjee, Tollywood Actress; Richa Sharma, Mrs. India International & Actress; Raghunath Mohapatra, a Renowned Sculptor; Sonika Prashar, Model from Shimla; Imran Zaki, President FACES; Amit Shah, Producer of the Anthem; Mr. Rajeev Walia, Director of the star-studded National Anthem and many others.

Among the celebrities who are featured in the video are Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Tusshar Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Isha Koppikar, Mallika Sherawat, Johnny Lever to name a few actors. Magician P.C. Sorcar has also been roped in along with classical dancer Sujata Mohapatra, Cricketers like Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, Wrestler Sangram Singh, Singers like Alka Yagnik, Anu Malik, Javed Ali, Mohit Chauhan, Udit Narayan and Aditya Narayan to name a few. Some other eminent names include Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kohlapuri, Rithvik Dhanjani, Asha Negi, Tina Dutta, Elli Avram, Rashmi Desai, Tanisha Singh and many others

The video has been shot with 70 plus famous Indians from different walks of life shot against in the backdrop of Taj Mahal, Konark Temple, Bandra Sea-link, Kerala, India Gate, Red Fort, etc. It also features 1500 school children, Indian football and badminton players, 500 coal mine workers, etc. The video is VFX designed keeping the big theatre screen in mind. The video has already been launched successfully in Mumbai on 15th August, 2014 on the occasion of Independence Day. This video proves the unity of India and that every renowned personality stands before it. The only medium where there is no discrimination and equality proves its worth. Love, peace and harmony are all we ask for and hence it stands. We Indians are known for our brotherhood and warmth which has totally been proved in this video.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Rajeev Walia, Director of the star-studded anthem said, “It is very important that we should teach our nation's children especially, and that modern crowd who listen only to western and hippie songs and remember only pop songs, the national anthem of India. So a launch of this newly prepared national anthem and playing it across screens at various theatres is very important.“ Talking about the project, Rajeev also said, “I have been working on this for a while now and it is finally complete. I am very proud of what the team has been able to put together with so many artists on board.”

In the past, Rajeev has made a social documentary “BETIYAAN - Save The Girl Child“ video that featured 20 Bollywood actors including Ajay Devgn, Sonaksh, Sinha, John Abraham, Nagarjauna, Hema Malini, Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Sonu Nigam, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Sushmita Sen, Sunidhi Chauhan, Film-maker Rakesh OmPrakash, Shamita Shetty, etc. It was written by Shri Kapil Sibalji for the Health Minitry Of India.

Mr. Rajeev Walia told us that after 'Betiyaan' video, my friend Mr Gupta, who was screening the video in his theatre, gave me the idea of making a video on the National Anthem. However, I was sure that if I make something like the National Anthem, it has to be on a grand scale and I started working on it. It has been eight months and now finally, I am ready with my video. I plan to release it in different parts all over the world since August 14 onwards," Rajeev says.

Rajeev then went on to elaborate about the various known and unknown faces that will be seen in the video." I needed personalities from different walks of life and that's why, I spoke to the Cricketers Pathan brothers – Yusuf & Irfan, Magician PC Sorcar, Arup Patnaik and Raghunath Mohapatra. I have also shot 600 coal mine workers singing the Anthem and 1500 children singing at the same time. It was quite an enriching experience and I have tried and done it in my own small way, something that I can be proud of. There are about 70 personalities in the video and although it was tough to get them all together in one frame, the end result is worth it," Rajeev adds. Swaroop Bhalwankar has composed the track and the anthem is sung by Swaroop Bhalwankar, Pranam Kumar, Shravan Bansode, Zuber, Sujata Samuel, Shreela Tambe and child singer Sanchiti Sakat.
