Kolkata, August 19 (Washington Bangla Radio): One of the five stars of Kolkata was graced by the entire team of much awaited ‘Satyanweshi’, a film by Late. Rituparno Ghosh, for a press meet on Tuesday. Chief Asst. Director (Debobroto Dutta), all the cast including Sujoy Ghosh, Anindya Chatterjee, Arpita Chatterjee, Shibaji Bondhopadhay, Sanjoy Nag, Anandi Ghosh with music director(Debojyoti Mishro) along with Editor (Arghakamal Mitra) and DOP(Avik Mukhopadhay) were presented there.

Satyanweshi will soon hit the silver screen, precisely on 30th August, 2013, re-introducing renowned Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh as ‘Byomkesh’. The film is the last big directorial venture of ace director Rituparno Ghosh who left us for heavenly abode on 30th May, 2013 at his Kolkata residence following a massive heart attack. “I have not come to be an actor. Ritu Da made me do this job. Once, he gave me a call suddenly and put this responsibility onto my shoulder.  The reason for which I acted in the film, also did not get fulfilled since Ritu Da suddenly left us”, said the Byomkesh. The actor also shared his awesome experience during the shooting. “I accepted the proposal with lots of hesitation at heart but it turned out to be great fun to work as an actor which may not be possible to acquire through direction”, Sujoy Ghosh added.

According to Anindya Chatterjee, who played the role of Ajit in the film, Rituparno Ghosh’s films have different levels in their treatments. His early films were different from that of the films after ‘Chokher Bali’ and even his recent movies had a special statement. “Satyanweshi was his first film towards this journey of detective genre but the door got closed before it opened. I consider myself to be very fortunate since I got the opportunity to work in his film and have tried to give my best”, Anindya said.

Arpita Chatterjee enlightened the venue in a gorgeous Indian look, wrapped in a beautiful white sari. She is playing Rani Aloka in the film. The original story of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay had only a small mention about this character in two to three lines but Rituparno made that character a major one and ornamented Arpita highly for the purpose in the film. “One thing I must say is that the whole team of Ritu Da made it possible to complete the film on his behalf and the work is so genuine that the viewers will not be able to point out that the man himself was not present. This proves that the team who has worked for Ritu Da so long, understands him so well and their chemistry with Ritu da was appreciable”, said Arpita.

According to Sujoy Ghosh, Rituparno has potrayed the new Byomkesh in a way which is different from the others. His Byomkesh is a man with ‘flesh and blood’ who has his own desire, envy and so on. Thus he stated to the media that ‘this’ Byomkesh is Rituparno’s as much as it is Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s as some characters were constructed by Rituparno himself.

He also said that he will be seen riding a horse in the film and admitted that horse riding in ‘dhoti’ was extremely dangerous.

According to Avik Mukhopadhay the director of photography, the film is almost ready. The previous day he returned from Bombay after completion of the color correction of the film. “Ritu Da was such kind of a director who used to complete a film at its script level, so it was not very difficult to finish the film”, said the DOP.
