Kolkata, August 14 (Washington Bangla Radio): After a long wait ‘Proloy’, the first non remake film by Raj Chakrabarty released amidst great enthusiasm. The premiere of the film took place at Priya cinema hall which saw the presence of a huge number of film fraternities along with cast and crew of the film.

The film is based on the real life hero Barun Biswas, who rose against the politically backed criminals and their barabaric atrocities against women in her native village. Barun Biswas created a committee almost single handedly, created media awareness and finally forced the administration to arrest the accused. But Barun was murdered within a short time.

The film is a tribute to the real life hero who laid down is life selflessly pursuing a greater cause and thus the production house, i.e. Venkatesh films never arranged any decorated press meet or celebratory promotions of the film. It had rather tried to re-kindle the memory of Barun Biswas, the hero whom the people have started to forget very fast.  On the very entry to the venue of the premiere a group of young guys were seen holding placards with the words ‘Who is Barun Biswas?’ (in Bengali scribe). Soon it was found that parents of martyr Barun Biswas had been invited to the premiere and they graced the occassion along with the other family members and neighbors. It was quite clear that the old parents were holding their tears hard.

Raj Chakrabarty was spotted at the premiere much before anyone else. Just as the time of the screening approached, the Tollywood fraternity started flowing in. Director Kaushik Ganguly came and hugged Raj which made a pretty picture for the shutterbugs. Soon Srijit Mukherjee entered with Swastika Mukherjee sizzling by his side. The ‘Mukherjee’ duo, if not couple, too grabbed considerable attention of the guests and media present there.

Mimi Chakrabarty, the leading lady of the film appeared with a bright aura. She looked stunning draped in a highly decorated saree matched aptly with a designer blouse. From the moment she entered, the media and other guests seemed to be unable to keep themselves away from her. It was her day after all.

Saswata, who plays the interesting role of Inspector Animesh also graced the premiere with his better half. He was seen bonding with his co-star Paran Bandopadhay, the man who is always found in a jolly mood.

Though Parambrata, who plays the protagonist of the film could not attend the premiere (report says that he was in Hyderabad and is busy shooting for the film ‘Traffic’)  Tollywood heart throbs like Jeet and Abir Chatterjee were present to glam up the evening.
