Srija Banerjee: Ready to rule Tollywood with her melodious voice after the success of her Audio Song Albums (WBRi Feature)

Kolkata, August 1 (Washington Bangla Radio): In the galaxy of vocalists who have enriched the Indian music industry of late, Srija Banerjee shines in her own glory. Srija started her musical exercise at a quite early age and performed on the stage when she was only three years old. Right from her childhood days she had an inherent knack towards music, which continues even till today. Her captivating voice and dedication towards the art has made her a well known vocalist, not only by virtue of her qualities but also owed to her approach towards music. The journey that she started at the age of three has so far taken her through many accolades and recognitions, though many more await her in future.

RabindraSangeet has been Srija’s forte and she, right at the age of six, started taking talim in RabindraSangeet from Bireswar Basu whose reputation and versatility in this genre needs little description. She has been awarded form time to time for her talent and command on music and today she has emerged to be one of the most revered playback singers in the Bengali film industry. Srija’s dexterity in singing different kinds of songs forms the base of her success.

In order to tread into genres of Bengali music other than RabindraSangeet, Srija started to take guidance from Jatileswar Mukherjee, a name synonymous with Bengali modern songs or to be more precise Aadhunik Bangla Gaan. Her zeal to learn and excel more in the field of music put her under the tutelage of Haimanti Shukla a noted vocalist and whom Srija considers to be her Guru ma. In order to add a glint to her knowledge and understanding of the rhythm, note and pitch she also trained under the guidance of grooming expert, Suvodeep Mukherjee, the audition in charge of the famous reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa”.

Srija’s first music album was Tomar Sur Sunaye which was launched in 2009 by Raaga Music but the breakthrough in her professional life came with the release of her second album Remembrance. It was a Hindi music album and worked a lot to propel her forward in the mainstream music industry. Remembrance earned appreciations from all strata of society and even achieved a chartbuster status in Music World after it registered a sale of highest number of CDs within a week of being launched. Her achievements have been widely covered by the media and several Bengali as well as English newspapers like Samvad Pratidin, Bartaman and The Bengal Post have covered her performances from time to time. She has also been awarded the National Achievement Award for Sangeet Ratna by the Image Welfare Achievers Forum in 2013.

Srija has already provided voice in two Bengali movies— Lattoo and Aleyar Alo that are going to be released soon. Moreover, she has also signed contracts for singing in six more Bengali movies that are likely to be released either in the last part of 2013 or in the first part of 2014. To top all her achievements she is also going to sign a contract for a Bollywood movie under a well known banner very soon if everything goes according to plan.
