Subrata Dutta and Ushasie Chakraborty in LATTOO (2012) Bangla MovieCalcutta, Aug 19, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) The much awaited Bengali movie Lattoo directed by Ashis Roy and starring acclaimed Bollywood and Tollywood acting powerhouse Subrata Dutta (whose appearance in RGV's Rakht Charitra and more recently in Subrata Sen's Koyekti Meyer Golpo) is ready for release. Arijit Chakraborty of WBRi caught up with Subrata Dutta at an airport to chat about his marvelous experiences of shooting for this film and also about his upcoming films.

Subrata Dutta (or Subrat Dutt as he is known as in Mumbai) is indeed a busy man! Some upcoming high-profile Hindi movies are tucked under his sleeves, including psychological thriller Talaash: The Answer Lies Within with Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor, and "urban cocky thriller" Charlie Ke Chakkar Mein with Naseeruddin Shah, Amit Sial and others. In Tollywood, his major forthcoming Bengali movie releases include Amitava Sengupta's Blind Lane on the Kamtapur liberation movement, Target Kolkata with Mithun Chakraborty and more.

Directed by Ashis Roy off a wonderful work by renowned script writer Subrata  Chowdhury, Lattu is a totally commercial venture - a "masala popcorn movie" in Subrata's words, with elements of romance, fights, comedy and what not! Subrata essays the role of a man in love with two heroines. One of the girls is played by actress Ushasie Chakraborty (seen in the still from Lattoo above with Subrata; her portrayal of Satyabati in Abar Bomkesh was applauded by all) and the other by Megha Burman (interview) - the famous Razia in Hollywood production Dam 999.

The song sequences of Lattoo were done in Bangkok and Pattaya.  There is also the new version of the popular Tagore number Mamo Chitte that is included in Lattu. Another surprise in store for the audience is a romantic bonding shared between Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Debashree Roy on screen after quite a long time. Important roles in Lattu  are also essayed by Biswajit Chakraborty, Kharaj Mukherjee, Parthasarathi Deb, Lama, Joyjit Banerjee and others. Subrata loved the scenic beauty of Pattaya and also the delicious insect-delicacies that were served to him!

Subrata also tells us about another Bengali movie on which he is putting on much expectation - Target Kolkata directed by Kartik Singh. Target Kolkata is another action packed movie where he is playing the role of an undercover agent. One uniqueness of Target Kolkata is the film portrays the city from different angles.

Lattoo is slated to release soon and Subrata is all geared up to shoot for a couple of new Hindi movies. In one film, he is playing the role of a Bengali social reformer who is trying to remove superstitious beliefs of Benaras residents. A unique concept and another movie to watch out for!
