Calcutta, Aug 19, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) After winning the hearts of all young men of Kolkata as Pupe (Sohini) in STAR Jalsha's popular Bengali television serial Ganer Oparey, Actress Mimi Chakraborty debuts on the silver screen with Sudeshna Roy - Abhijit Guha's feature film Bapi Bari Jaa (2012). She plays Dola, a childhood friend of Bapi essayed by Arjun Chakraborty, also her Ganer Oparey co-actor who played Gora.
The film stars six young Tollywood newcomers led by Arjun and Mimi. Mimi's character Dola in the film has just graduated and is going through emotional turbulence torn between old friendship, young romance and intellectual incompatibilty with her old friend.
Mimi describes Bapi Bari Ja as a "youth movie" but also an important film for parents to watch so that there is greater understanding of modern Kolkata youngsters.
