Calcutta, August 26, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) Imagine a very renowned versatile Non Bengali playback singer having her roots in Kolkata - she was born and brought up in the city - doing the ultimate thing which every singer having her roots in Kolkata aims to do.
What might that be?
Why of course, bring out an audio album of Rabindrasangeet!
That is precisely what Alka Yagnik, one of the leading playback singers of Bollywood over the years has done. She and Babul Supriyo have launched their first Rabindrasangeet music CD together called ‘Mone Robe’.
Though this is the first Rabindrasangeet album for Alka, this is Babul’s third Rabindrasangeet album. All the 10 songs of the album have been rendered very soulfully by both singers.
Alka deserves a special praise for her rendition of the songs considering this is something new for her, but the entire initiative had been taken by Babul who had coaxed Alka into lending her voice for this album.
The album includes tracks like Mone Robe Kina Robe, Amar O Parano Jaha Chai, Noi Noi Madhur Khela, Amar Bela Je Jai, Sakhi Boye Gelo Bela etc. While some of the tracks are duets, there are also solo tracks by both Alka and Babul.
The album was launched in presence of both the singers at Floatel on Thursday.
Washington Bangla Radio is unfortunately unable to bring you this album for digital MP3 download from our store due to the absence of a distribution agreement with the Kolkata-based record company that published this album.
