Film Preview: Arunava Khasnobis' Bhalobasa Off Route E: Sometimes Soccer Games are Really a Matter of Life & Death!

Bhalobasha Off Route Ay - Bengali Movie PosterCalcutta, August 13, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) Chitra Creations presents the Bengali drama film Bhalobasha Off Route-ey directed by Arunabha Khasnobis starring Rahul, Saswata Chatterjee, Rudranil Ghosh, Abhiraj, Kharaj Mukherjee, Kanchan Mullick, Tanusree, Parijat, Partha Sarathi Deb and Padmanabha Dasgupta.

Shot on locations in Kolkata and Bolpur, the "graph of the film fluctuates from comedy to a serious track and vice versa."

The film is expected to have a release date around Durga Puja 2011. It is written by Padmanava Dasgupta and Arunava Khasnobis, and features music by Debarpito.

According to the official synopsis, Bhalobasa Off Route E is set in a village named Chandiphanta away from Kolkata. The village is plagued by two scofflaws ("mastaans") Jagan and Fagan, played by Rudranil and Abhiraj.

They settle their scores on the soccer field by engaging their opponents in soccer (football) games and killing them right on the field!

Eventually, the village's former pradhan gets his two nephews, Siddhartha and Sandip, played by Rahul and Saswata, to teach the duo a lesson. Tanusree and Parijat play their love interest.

The film takes off after three years and then goes in the flashback mode to explain what had happened three years ago.
