                                                                                      "......and, Life goes ON........."

Life goes on...

Whatever happens, Life goes on... this is the ultimate truth we all have to face when things go terribly wrong...

Life goes on...in this wretched city...of Kolkata, in this lonely planet which is suddenly hit by "recession" ...the year is 2008... joblessness, suspensions and broken lives abound...and still Life goes on... on and on and on...........................

Life goes on... even when IT executive Aniket (Indranil Sengupta) cheats on his wife, Raka (Sreelekha), even when he loses 42 lacs in the recession market, eve when his wife leaves him for good, even when he is distanced from his only daughter Tupur...

Life goes on... even when fashion Designer Sonia (Sudipta) decides to abort her baby, only after she comes to know that the child in the growing fetus will be confined to a wheel chair all her life; Sonia simply cannot accept her child to be a born handicapped... instead, she looks forward to her designer creations...

Life goes on... even when Aniket's Physics teacher Farhad Sir's (Anjan Dutta in an unforgettable role) Daughter dies at a young age... he has his guitar, piano, experiments and booze to give him company...

Life goes on...even when Mohit, Aniket's father (Biswajit Chakraborty) dies a terrible and sad death suffering from lung infection and mostly melancholy and the feeling that he is not connected to his Son,

Life still goes on...when air-hostess Lillete (Tanusree) stumbles on the path of life, after leading a super-fast lifestyle and eventually becoming a HIV urochithi positive....loves Aniket, submits herself to him and then has to leave him and goes to her father in Singapore forever (well, that is what life is all about)...her life, her past in shambles...

Life goes on... when Event Manager Kevin (Rudranil) has to agree with Sonia in losing the baby... when he gives up his dream of turning his about-to-be-born daughter Medha into a Fashion Diva,

Life goes on... even when a typical housewife Sudha (Locket), Anikets's family friend,  is arrested on charges of prostitution in her own massage parlor...when her only son Shubho gets beaten in school and is under medication due to behavioral problems...

Life goes on... even when a frustrated broken down factory worker Suhas (Biswanath Bose, in a role which is just 'over the top') loses his wife (Locket) to the cops, drowns in shame, loses his job, tries to make adhesive glue at home, so he can sell and meet both ends somehow....

Life still goes on...  when Raka, wife of Aniket (Sreelekha), finds out about her husband's affair with Lillete, and makes prints out of the intimate photographs that is all over Facebook (that is how she comes to know about the infidelity), when she sets to light herself on fire, when she faces life 'head-on' with her daughter in tow, walking out on her husband...

Life even goes on ...for Manish (Saswata Chatterjee), Aniket's colleague in 'Infolink', when he is hated by all...only because he is one damn selfish fellow who proves himself as a traitor among friends...

and Life also goes on ... when Shalini (Reshmi Ghosh in a wonderful Cameo) is overthrown from her seat by her trusted office mates, and even Aniket, with him she shared a special relationship...when she loses hope and finds trusting someone very difficult, and even when her live-in partner - the painter Tarini, leaves her sometime ago, and when her memories just won't let go.........

Kamaleswar Mukherjee has woven a film - "URO CHITHI" which can termed as 'near-perfect',  but there are a few minor glitches which could have been avoided.

Nevertheless, this flick is a winner!

However, "URO CHITHI" can be termed as one of this year's best film in terms of performance...and I would rate all the major performers as "fabulous" but Indranil Sengupta the protagonist of this film called Aniket, his friend Suhas enacted by Biswanath Bose leaves me "speechless"...

urochithi2Apart from these two performers, Sudipta Chakraborty, Biswajit Chakraborty, Sreelekha Mitra, Rajatava Dutta, Tanusree Chakraborty, Reshmi Ghosh, Locket Chatterjee, and Anjan Dutta are simply 'incredible'!!!

Debapratim Dasgupta too, as Raja, enacted his role with ease and understanding, and so is Kaushik Ghosh as Aniket's boss in Infolink.

Debojyoti Misra's Music enhances the mood and Manoj Misra's images will be remembered for a long time to come...especially the Babu-Ghat Ganges sequences with Aniket and Suhas... the sky a tobacco hue...with the old Howrah Bridge in the backdrop...it's  mind boggling, this visual -  really...

Not to mention Shreya Ghoshal's wonderful rendition of  - "Shohor"...

"URO-CHITHI" is a film which sits 'heavy' on the heart... heart-pain guaranteed...

It's a film which carries a distinct sheet, which is very much tangible, melancholic Grey in color, dipped in grief and distrust, which sometimes smothers the viewer and suffocates him with it's too real and tight embrace...when this film no longer remains a part of a celluloid dream... when it slaps you hard across the face...

Kamaleswar Mukherjee, like Srijit Mukherjee..., has raised my expectations, and I will be looking forward to his forthcoming releases...!

This is film that will surely be in my list of "20 all time favorite movies" !
