Whistling Woods International kicks off its Multicity Tour on Documentaries

Mumbai, Aug 5, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) A documentary, as a film-making genre, is often misunderstood to be boring and revolving only around serious topics. Whistling Woods International – Institute for Film, Television, Animation and Media Arts, has thus taken up upon itself to dispel these misconceptions and has begun their tour called ‘I & eye – a series of multicity seminars on Documentary Practices and Perceptions.

This multicity tour kicked off yesterday in Chennai with the seminar held in association with Stella Maris College, Chennai and shall continue up to 17 August, 2011 with Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata on the line-up next. The multicity tour attempts to discuss a very pertinent issue that falls within the realm of documentary-making – Dispelling the myth: There is ‘No scope’ in Documentaries. The seminar boasts of some very important names from within the film industry and there shall be screenings of documentaries such as ‘My camera and Tsunami’, ‘You don’t belong’, ‘Ladies Special’ and ‘Love in India’ in each of the four cities of Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata respectively.

Whistling Woods International shall also be holding a ‘Big Debate’ on 19 August, 2011 in Mumbai within its campus and it is hoped that at the end of the multicity tour documentaries shall be viewed in a different light.
