Govt officers arrested with Sambar meat in Arunachal





Guwahati, Aug 30 (IBNS) : Twelve people, including government officers, were arrested with huge quantity of banned raw Sambar meat at Seijosa in East Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, forest officials of Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger Reserve launched an operation and seized 18 kg of raw Sambar meat and arrested 12 people, including some state government officers.

“12 people were arrested under the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972,” a forest official said.

The arrested people were produced in a court and later released on bail with a surety bond of Rs 60,000.
