Eight people held along Indo-Bangla border






Guwahati, Aug 27 (IBNS) : Eight people, including a militant of a Muslim rebel group and a Bangladeshi national, were reportedly apprehended in separate incidents by Border Security Force (BSF) along the Indo-Bangladesh border on Thursday night.

According to reports, the BSF troops apprehended six people at the Indo-Bangla border, when they were trying to cross the border from Bangladesh at Haldiaganj in Assam's Dhubri district on Thursday night.

The nabbed people have been identified as Md Noor Mandal, Md Mujibar Ali Seikh, Md Rabiqul Islam, Md Sakir Bhuwa, Md Islam Mullah and Md Isalmullah. They are all Indian nationals, said the police.

In a separate incident, acting on a tip off, a joint team of Assam police and BSF launched an operation and arrested a Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) cadre named Hazrat Ali from his house at Majarswar in Dhubri district near the Indo-Bangla border.

Security forces seized three crude bombs from him.

In another incident, a Bangladeshi national Riazal Karim was caught in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district on Thursday night, when he was trying to ex-filtrate into Bangladesh from India.
