India-our beloved motherland has a very rich cultural background. We Indians are very much aware of our this cultural heritage too. We love and respect culture. We have the full faith and honour to traditions, rituals, festivals of our country.
Yes,It is said that,India is a land of tradition,a land of rituals, a land of festivals.
There are 28 states are there-in our country. Every state has its own culture, languages, rituals, festivals etc. which is totally different from others.
We Indians really love and enjoy festivals. That is why, every season is a festive-season for us. All most every day, we can see that, some where in India some people are celebrating something- a festival or something like that.
But,there are many national festivals too, where the whole nation can participate. The people of each and every corner of the country can celebrate. The Holi,Dipabali,Idd,Dashera etc. are these kinds of festivals. There is another name in the said list. That is Rakhi or Rakhsha Bandhan. It is also a national festival. It is also celebrated in every part of the country every year.
The festival of Rakhshabandhan occurs on Rakhi Purnima only.
The Puran says the quine of all gods and goddesses Sachi Devi (The wife of Lard Indra- The king of all gods and goddesses) tied up a rakhi in the wrist of her husband, when he went to fight against the asuras(the evil powers).
In the modern age The writer of our National Anthem, the first Nobel Prize winner of our country Kabiguru RabindraNath Tagore made the Rakhsha Bandhan festival famous in all over the country in the occasion of ‘Banga Vanga Movement’. For this perticular movement the song ‘Banglar mati,Banglar jal(written by Gurudev Rabindra Nath)’ and the rakhi (tiedup by him)gave a lot of mental strength to the freedom fighters to fight against the British rulers.
Sachi devi started the Rakhsha Bandhan festival by binding the rakhi in the wrist of her husband. But,generally, in the morning of every Rakhi Purnima the sisters(elder and younger) tie up the rakhis in the wrists of there brothers(elder and younger). Then the sisters (elder and younger) offers sweets to there brothers(elder and younger). After that the brothers give some gifts to the sisters(elder and younger).
Rakhsha Bandhan is the festival of love, affection, friendship. By binding a rakhi, a sister (elder or younger) makes good wishes for her brother (elder or younger) . The brother takes a worth to save his sister(elder or younger) always from every evil.
Every year in first Sunday of the month August the world celebrates ‘Friendship Day.’In this occation, people tie up friendship bands to the wrists of there friends. This friendship band is nothing else than also one kind of Rakhi.
Many people earns money for there families by making Rakhis even now(specially in the rural arias).
