Four die in separate Assam incidents

Guwahati, Aug 26 (IBNS) : Four persons were killed in separate incidents in Assam on Thursday, officials said.

According to reports, two bodies were recovered at Barama and Bilpar area of Baska district on Thursday morning.

“The two youths were part of a group involved in a fight during gambling at Barama area on Wednesday night,” a senior police official said.

The bodies were identified as Jayanta Kalita and Jayanta Barman (15).

Barman was hacked to death as he had witnessed Kalita's killing, police said.

Meanwhile, a third body, identified as a farmer named Mongal Ramchiary, was recovered at Mussalpur area on Thursday morning, police said.

In another incident, an old man named Babu Pegu was hacked to death at Jeraimukh in Majuli on suspicion of being a wizard,  police said .
