The classic Bengali movie SANJIBANI
(1952) starred Mahanayak Uttam Kumar as hero and Sandhya Rani as
heroine and was directed by Sukumar Dasgupta and released under the
banner of
the famous M P Productions in cinemas in Kolkata.
Sukumar Dasgupta is well known for the few Uttam Kumar films he directed in addition to Sanjibani, including Ora Thakey Odharey (1954) [DVD] starring Uttam Kumar, Suchitra Sen, Molina Devi, Chhabi Biswas, Tulsi Chakraborty, Bhanu Bannerjee and the super-hit SATHIHARA (1961) [BUY DVD] with Uttam Kumar, Mala Sinha, Tarun Kumar, Jahar Ray and music by the legendary Hemanta Mukherjee.
