The film Alik Sukh is based on the life of Kingshuk (Debsankar Halder) and Rammani (Rituparna Sengupta). They have a six year old child Tatan. Kingshuk is a noted gynecologist and has a roaring practice. He lives with his wife and son in their ancestral home. However he wants to live life on his own terms. This was not possible while staying with their parents. Hence on 22nd January, which is also their anniversary, he plans to gift his wife with a new flat as the anniversary gift. However fate had something else in store for him as he gets a call about an emergency case at the hospital. What will Kingshuk do? Will he choose his personal happiness over his professional liabilities? This is what the story of Alik Sukh is all about. “It deals essentially with the dilemma that the doctors face in their day to day lives. Their personal lives often get into trouble due to their professional duties. This is what I have been trying to show in this film. All the films that I have made till now deals with issues that are often not taken into consideration while making films. I plan to take them in my films” said Shiboprasad Mukherjee. The director who wants to do one film per year believes in giving the film all the attention rather than making a film with half-baked plot and characters.
