Kolkata, July 02, (Washington Bangla Radio): The venue is the Crystal Room in the Taj Bengal Hotel in Kolkata. The room is nearly full with media personnel from the print and electronic media. The print media journalists are busy jotting down questions that they will be asking and the electronic media journalists are busy giving instructions to the cameramen for the possible angle from which they can record the event and all these preparations were for the press conference of Prabhu Deva’s next, Ramaiya Vastavaiya. Cameras go berserk when finally Prabhudeva, Kumar Taurani and Girish Kumar enter the conference hall.
Looking dapper in a crisp white shirt and dark blue jeans, Prabhu Deva was elated to see so many photographers at an event after such a long time. The director thanked the media for turning up at the press conference. “The film is a remake of my Telugu film. Initially I had no plans of doing this remake. However some of my friends asked me to work on the remake of this film. It is after much cajoling by them that I finally agreed. Now that I have made the film, I am very happy with the film” said the director. The selection of Girish was not solely made based on the fact that his father Kumar Taurani is the producer of the film, clarified the director. This was indeed a factor in the selection of the hero, but Girish had to give two days of audition before he was finally taken on board. Ramaiya Vastavaiya means “Ram when you will come?” These are Telugu words and match well with the context of the film where the hero Ram also returns from abroad.
Girish Kumar was high on the style quotient. In the cream colored coat and the white t-shirt on his brown trousers, the actor oozed confidence and style. The chunky wristwatch on his right wrist also added to the style. “I play the role of Ram who falls in love with Sona (Shruti Hassan) who is the best friend of my cousin. They fall in love and the atrocities that they overcome is what the film deals with” said the actor. Girish was all praises for his co-actor whom he described as a good looking actress who dances well and acts even better. The actor had matched steps with Prabhudeva in the song “Jadoo ki Jhappi”. “Prabhu sir is a great person to work with. He never makes you feel uncomfortable. He gives you ample time for rehearsing and also helps you out” added the actor. The actor believes in acting from his heart and not following anyone. However he “looks up to” Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
Kumar Taurani, the producer of the film was not concerned about his film entering the hundred crore club. He was rather more concerned about the fact that the film should be good and entertaining for the audience so that it is remembered over the years. “The screenplay sets it apart from the other films with which many people will draw a comparison when watching Ramaiya Vastavaiya. The treatment by Prabhudeva is also different. This makes the film special. This is a family film with lots of fun and entertainment. The songs are good and have become quite popular among the people” said Kumar Taurani.
There are six songs in the film namely “Jeene laga hoon”, “Hip Hop pammi”, “Bairiyaa”, “Rang jo Lagyo”, “peecha chute”, “Jadoo ki jhappi. Jacqueline Fernandes will be seen in a special appearance in the song Jadoo Ki Jhappi.
On special request from the media and the assembled guests, Prabhudeva and Girish Kumar also danced to the song “Hip Hop Pammi” from the film.
The film looks promising and is slated for release on the 19th of July.
