Kolkata Bengali Movie and TV Actress June MaliahKolkata, July 19, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) In a remarkable display of the camaraderie that naturally exists between social services volunteers, the launch of Aarohan - a new NGO with the charter of working for the upliftment of underprivileged children of India - was attended by over 600 beneficiaries of 25 other NGOs, some from places far away from Kolkata. The host - actress and philanthropist June Maliah - poignantly reminded all of their social responsibility; a little time spent on social activities goes a big way in improving and securing society. Too many people have come to think about themselves without being aware of what is happening around them, sometimes leading to violent crimes against even seniors.

Didi Number One June Malia was the MC at the launch of Aarohan. Expressing gratitude for being given the opportunity to host the event, June said she enjoyed being there very much, especially because of the kids present there.

Being an active member of the West Bengal Women's Commission, June is deeply involved with NGOs and providing social services and support to women. June thanks Ms. Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal for giving her the opportunity to work with the very important Commission - a great organization for people who truly want to make a difference.

June encouraged privileged and responsible members of the society to come forward and get more involved with social services.

Talking about her projects as an actress, June said the 3rd season of ""Didi No. 1" TV serial (Zee Bangla) that she hosted has just completed and she is taking a break. Her new comedy soap on Rupashi Bangla TV Channel titled Babushona has just started on July 16. Before signing off, June Maliah hints at being the host for a new season of "Didi Number 1" and also a role in Srijit Mukherji's next Bengali feature film.

Other than her acclaimed Television performances, June Maliah recently appeared in Srijit Mukherji's Bangla movie Baishe Srabon. She has previously appeared in Bengali films Raktamukhi Neela, Podokkhep, The Bong Connection, Nil Nirjane, Mondo Meyer Upakhyan and others.
