Kolkata, July 29 (Washington Bangla Radio / IBNS) The broadcasting division of UTV promoted the launch of an entertainment channel called UTV STARS in Kolkata on Thursday, claiming that the new channel will pack Bollywood content that would be more exclusive in nature.

This latest offering from the UTV group will attempt to satiate the appetite of celluloid fanatic viewers by providing a plethora of holistic Bollywood centric content.

UTV STARS Business Head Nikhil Gandhi commented on "The Official Channel of Bollywood" by saying, "we are looking to create a 360° youth brand with Bollywood at its core."

"We want to create a one-stop destination of Bollywood," he added.

Bollywood actress Minisha Lambha promoted the channel by saying, "It is going to be a sort of independence of Bollywood content so far as the channel is concerned."

"It is really great that they (UTV) have decided to make this channel," she added.

Nikhil claimed that by providing original content along with news shows, weekly features and music they will surely woo viewers.

He remarked, "We believe we are the intimate insiders of Bollywood and so we will be able to provide a lot more than what others provide."

"We will have about four hours of original content," he added.

Upon query he informed that they might eventually "move to the regional space" from Bollywood.

"Our ultimate endeavour is going to be a celebration of Indian and regional cinema," he said.

The channel which is scheduled for launch on 14th August 2011 has plans of being aired in UK, USA and UAE within six months of its inauguration in India.
