I got the opportunity to interact with Icche director duo Shiboprosad
Mukherjee and Nandita Roy recently along with actors Sohini Sengupta,
Samadarshi Dutta (interview)
and Bidita Bag. We missed actors; Honourable Minister of Higher
Education of State of West Bengal, Bratya Basu and Ruplekha Mitra a lot
The directors and actors shared their experiences with Icche that day.
Icche is the first directorial debut of Shiboprasad Mukhopadhyay who
has passion for acting from his childhood and was a member of famous
theatre group Nandikar for a long time. He acted in several Hindi and
Bengali feature films directed by Rituporno Ghosh, Kumar Sahani, Nitish
Roy, Raja Sen, Anup Singh Baltar, Ram Gopal Verma among others.
Shiboprasad considers Icche as his first child and he is very hopeful
regarding success of Icche.
Born in Mumbai, Nandita Roy completed her education from Mumbai
University and married Mr. Nitish Roy, the famous Set Director of
Bollywood. She was responsible for the establishment of famous
television channel, ETV Bangla and worked there as the Creative Director
and Branch Manager. She was the co-script writer of the films Tobu Mone
Rekho and Jamai No. 1 and she assisted in making of those films as well
along with Ek Posla Brishti. She considers Icche as a entirely
commercial venture with different dimensions and expects every mother
should watch this film.
Samadarshi is a well known actor with films like National Award
Winning Ami Adu, Arohon Hing Ting Chot among others, under his credit.
But he considers himself as a member of Icche family since Icche is his
first feature film after completing graduation from FTII and in his
debut film he has got the opportunity to work with eminent stage actors
Bratya Basu and Sohini Sengupto.
Bidita Bag is very cheerful about Icche as she considers Icche as the
turning point of her career. She started her career as a model and
shifted her base to Mumbai for more opportunities. That time she got the
chance again to explore her career in Kolkata, her hometown, with
Sohini is an actress with enormous potentialities. She is the daughter of Nandikar Head, famous actor Rudroprasad Sengupto and famous actress Swatilekha Sengupto. She is doing theatre from her childhood and considers theatre as her family. She feels most comfortable with the acting in theatre. She considers Icche as a family venture to her as she is very close to Nandita Roy, she has grown up with Shiboprasad in Nandikar and studied with him in Jadavpur University and she always gets pleasure to work with Bratya Basu.
