Electro Classical introduces you to a brand new sound that blends the soulfulness of Indian classical and the excitement of electronica. The album, while retaining the thrilling percussive energy of Rhythmscape, brings in an added electric element that hasn’t been tried earlier.

While an electric sitar, electric veena, electric sarod, electric mandolin or electric guitar form the mainstay of the melody, classical vocals, drums and keyboards along with a variety of acoustic instruments, loops and Bickram’s Tabla Kit add to the excitement. Most of the instruments used in the show are electrically or electronically triggered, giving the album and the act a fascinating new-age sound.

He decided to bring out this album because he thought that Indian classical music which was once very popular is not so popular now because primarily of two reasons- the advent of the sub-woofer and the subsequent low-end bass, which a couple of entire generations are now used to hearing, and secondly, they miss a “groove”, a distinguishable beat to pulsate to. Many young classical musicians like U.Srinivas, U.Rajesh, Snehasish Majumdar are slowly experimenting with new age instruments like Electric sitar, electric veena, electric guitar etc because they would be able to provide the audience with something fresh. This album is all about new age sounds hence, it is not essentially a classical music album .It has been brought out for the younger audience to enjoy this kind of music in an ambience of their choice e.g. A nightclub or a resto lounge.

Roxy, the resto bar at the Park, Kolkata has created a niche of it’s own reputation since it’s inception. It is a very popular place for clubbing and gives a sense of luxury and class which is very unique including it’s interiors and sets it apart from the rest. The mobile DJ Unit also turns into a place for live performances at times.

Hence it is but natural that Bickram Ghosh decided to release his latest album ‘Electro Classical’ at Roxy, the most appropriate venue, on 24th June,2010 where he even performed one of the tracks from his latest album.

Hope ‘Electro Classical’ gives an electric feeling to all music lovers and really comes out with flying colours.

The album has been released by SONY Music.
