Atanu Ghosh - Bengali Movie Maker - Takhan TeishAtanu gives us a fascinating glimpse of his eclectic background before settling down as a film-maker. He talks about the differences between telefilms and feature films, and shares insight on the differences in approach of the cast and crew in either genre.

Atanu shares some anecdotes with us - stories and incidents during shooting of both his feature films so far. He talks about Angshumaner Chobi - how he came up with the idea for the story after working closely with a veteran actor of the stature of Soumitra Chatterjee. He, of course, gives us his view of the story.

Atanu then shares with us his view, as the director, of the forthcoming movie Tokhon Teyish. Hopefully he has not given away too much information about the film which is currently in post production and expected to release in September of 2010. In summary, a boy was born to a family of brilliant and successful Bengalis. When the boy was one and a half years old, his great-uncle declared that the boy would pursue a different path than others in the family, and would probably leave his home early on. Listen to Atanu describe what happens when the boy is 23 in his own words.

Atanu touches on difficult questions of what the expectation of Bengali film lovers are these days and the impact of the commercial Bollywood-style senseless commercial movies. He talks about the difficulties of young, aspiring as well as established film makers, and offers hope that smart young film makers of his generation can resurrect the Kolkata Tollywood film industry as the showcase of Indian film making for the world.

Takhon Teyish has a credited star cast of Jisshu Sengupta, Paoli Dam, Aparajita Ghosh Das, Tanusree Shankar, Rajatabha Dutta, Biplab Chatterjee, Neel Mukherjee, Locket Chatterjee and Indrani Halder and others.
