Aishwarya’s Pregnancy Derails Heroine?

Aishwarya’s Pregnancy Derails Heroine?

June 27, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / Pen Men at Work): The announcement of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s pregnancy has put her family and millions of her fans on cloud nine. But, the scene at Ash’s latest project Heroine’s director Madhur Bhandarkar and producer Ronnie Screwala’s camp is completely different.

Madhur and Ronnie are perplexed, what just happened? Their dilemma, what to do now, dump the project all together, shelve it for the time being, or put it on the fast track and get it over and done with?

The air is pregnant [pun intended] with suspense: what will happen to ‘Heroine’? Will she (the film ‘Heroine,’ not the actress) survive the whims and mood swings of a primigravida? With much pomp and splendor, they had announced their film ‘Heroine’ at Cannes, with Aishwarya as the leading lady. It was Friday, the 13th of last month. Little did they know that their heroine will drop a bomb shell of her pregnancy, in just over five weeks after the announcement!

If Ash’s D-day is in November as reported, she should have been almost at the end of her first trimester then. One wonders, why would she sign a project which clearly demands that the heroine, not just look slim and trim, sexy and svelte – showing her body under a waterfall, but even smoke cigarettes? Didn’t she read the script before signing it?

Pregnancy is clearly evident to knowing eyes in Aishwarya’s pictures at and since Cannes! Does she think she would be able to hide her bulging belly and body for another 65 days – the time that she gracefully (!) gives her director Madhur Bhandarkar to complete the shoot?

As per Madhur, the script is full of dark, intensely emotional scenes. Naturally, he would not want his royally pregnant actress at the end of second trimester to go through the risk of emotional turmoil of the character Ash is supposed to portray in the flick.

As the buzz goes, Ash is determined to complete the project, yes, before going for her D-Day, and Madhur might accommodate her by diluting the intensity of dark drama in the script, as well as expediting the shooting schedule.

Many directors have dealt with similar situations in the past, but always unsuccessfully, and at the cost of value of the film!

Will the director in Madhur Bhandarkar allow him to do that?

Will Ronnie Scrwewala and UTV allow Madhur to do that?

Is ‘Heroine’ cursed by Friday, the 13th?
