Maqbool Fida Husain Passes Away

Calcutta/London, 9th June, 2011 (WBRi/OOBE): Legendary and Controversial Painter Maqbool Fida Husain passed away in London. Forbes magazine called him the "Picasso of India". He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1973 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1991 by The Government of India. He was also awarded with the prestigious Raja Ravi Varma award by the Government of Kerala. 

M.F.Hussain directed three films namely "Through the Eyes of a Painter (1967 Short Film)", "Gaja Gamini (2000 Feature Film)" and "Meenaxi: Tale of 3 Cities (2004 Feature Film)". The Short Film won the Golden Berlin Bear Award in 1967's Berlin International Film Festival.

Veteran Malayalam film director Shaji N. Karun was all set to make a full length documentary on M.F.Hussain.
